Winter is a beautiful time for a wedding. While winter is not the most popular time for a wedding, winter does offer a lot if you choose to hold your wedding in winter. If you live in the Northeast or Northwest of the country, there is a real chance that there may be snow on the ground and/or snow falling the day of your wedding. That in itself will make everything very magical and special.

A Christmas-themed wedding is a very popular choice for a winter wedding. Many brides and grooms that love Christmas select this choice. The church is already beautifully decorated and you can enjoy the lovely Christmas decorations that have been chosen by the church for Christmas. Typically the colors for a Christmas wedding are white, red and green. Sometimes brides and grooms will also use a metallic color such as silver or gold. If you are a very Christian person, someone who truly loves Christmas this may be an ideal choice for you. This is also a great choice for couples who met during the Christmas season – or who got engaged during the Christmas season. It is said that more couples get engaged in the month of December than in any other month of the year! So Christmas for a wedding theme is an excellent choice.

Another great theme is a New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day wedding. Why not celebrate the New Year with a new spouse? Everyone will be looking to have a good time and they can certainly have a good time laughing, celebrating and dancing at your wedding. Be forewarned that holding a wedding reception on New Year’s Eve or even New Year’s Day can be fairly pricey. Restaurants, catering halls and other establishments know that this is a very popular day – so you will be expected to pay an extremely competitive price. But for many, New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day is a lovely choice for a wedding and a wedding reception. A great idea is to hold something elegant, perhaps even a black tie style of celebration where everyone gets very dressed up. New Year’s Eve is a day that many people like to get dressed to the nines and they will especially enjoy this if it is a wedding.

A lavish theme for a winter wedding is also the destination wedding to a warmer climate. Perhaps holding your wedding in the Caribbean, where guests can come home with the nice glow of a tan will appeal to many? Destination weddings have become more and more popular over the past few years. With the cost of airline tickets and hotels becoming quite competitive, a destination wedding is now within reach of more and more brides and grooms. There are many lovely warm and beautiful places to hold your destination wedding. The Caribbean is a very popular choice as airfare tends to be quite reasonable and a flight is not very long from most parts of the U.S.A.. There are also other, more exotic choices for your destination wedding. But what could warm the heart more during winter than coming home with lovely photos of the bride and groom and a great tan?
